1985
Jonathan Peter Wollert made a joyous entry into this world on February 10, 1985 on an arctic-icy Sunday morning in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.   The labor was fast and easy but his mother was initially worried because he did not cry.  "Shield his eyes from the light," advised the doctor, "and watch him perk up."  Sure enough, the moment Mom's hand cast a soft shadow on his face, she was greeted with the darkest berry brown eyes she had ever seen.  "Hello, sweetheart."  He looked like Dad and a little like Mom.  He squinted and blinked and focused his blurry gaze on Mom.  She remembered a story read time and again and recited the chorus to her newest son:  "I'll love you forever.  I'll like you for always.  As long as you're living, my baby you'll be."

Jonny, my sweet and brave boy:  you are still my baby and I hold the joyous memory of your birth in my heart.  You were and always will be a magical gift.  I treasure all the happy memories, but my first meeting with you will always be the most precious.

Rest in peace, honey.

2005
Died peacefully sometime between June 26 and July 01, 2005 at the age of 20 in Arch Cape, Oregon.  He loved his family's funky little cabin, tucked up on a hill deep in the quiet of the old growth coastal forests.  A week before he died, he told his mom:  "I don't know what it is about this place:  the trees, the ocean, whatever.  But I am so happy here."

Rest in peace, Jonny.  Your suffering is over.  Your loving family and friends will never forget you and the love that you brought us all.
